Net-Zero Carbon Buildings : Practitioners Perspective
Achieving net-zero carbon buildings is about reducing energy, both operational and embodied, with offsetting being the last resort for residual emissions. There’s greater understanding of operational energy use in buildings and hence, the roadmaps to reduce this is clear. Embodied energy has only started to be addressed and the scale of reduction required for net-zero carbon is still unclear. However, there are practitioners that have attempted to design Net-zero, or at least Near-zero carbon buildings. This session will give the stage to some of these practitioners to talk about:
- Their Near-zero carbon buildings
- Design process, challenges and how close to net-zero did it get
- The enablers for net-zero carbon buildings in their geographical context
